On their site this morning Amazon is inviting people to their June 18 new product launch event in Seattle. The betting is Amazon is releasing a new smartphone.

MarketWatch has an interesting story Amazon and BGR claims they have photos Amazon Smartphone Photos: Exclusive first clear photo of Kindle Phone | BGR

I like Amazon so I'm curious to see what Jeff Bezos is coming up with this time.

They did but it appears they've decided to make it AT&T exclusive. Not a smart move in my opinion. They've cut themselves off from over 60% of the market.

I like Amazon, but they don't make really good products themselves. The Roku is the winning streaming box, the iPad is the winning tablet, and while the Kindle is a good ereader, the iPad can do so much more...and it functions as an ereader.

I think Amazon should stop competing with other tech companies, and do what they do best, which is sell products online. There is no other online retail company that stands up to Amazon.

Looking at the phone's specs and pricing it seems making it a death star exclusive isn't the only problem with this phone. Very overpriced for what it is.
