Is there any way to get a .mp3 file I have into my iPhone 5 and use it as a ringtone?

Usually if one Googles the question ;then you are taken to site on doing such things. Never understood why people do not search.

What I did when my wife had Iphone 4-5. I used freeware programs to cut the song down to a short file. Renamed it to something like Ringtone_Songname.mp3. Also set the song name tag to this name. Then transfer the file with Itunes to the phone. Thats all I remember doing and the ringtone mp3 was available in the phone.

Some people prefer getting advice from people that know things better then they might.
There are 20 different ways to get ringtones on your iphone. Cazboy did the right thing by asking people who may know which of the 20 methods you can find on Google work best. Not counting the time waiting for a reply, he may have actually saved time by getting one of the better ways to do it right off the bat.
