I just got the Galaxy S5 today to replace my old smartphone and had my husband transfer all of my pictures onto our laptop to insure that I wouldn't lose them when transferring over. We didn't end up having the kid helping us buy the phone do the whole contacts/pics transfer thing because we ran out of time so I'd like to figure out how to do it myself.

I just want to put all of the photos from my old phone onto my new phone- how do I go about doing that? TIA!

Connect phone to PC.
Browse the phone just like you would your computer.
Find the DCIM folder.
Copy your photos into that.

^ yeah. the advantage of android is that devices look like a normal usb flash drive when plugged in.

assuming you already tried plugging it in does an error pop up ?


if you are using linux can you provide the output of the log after plugging it in.

better than the alternatives at least:
