New (dumb) question about iPhone 6

I have been looking at finally getting the iPhone 6, and had a quick question. I know it's an aluminum body, but with the silver or space gray colors, is that just paint of that color applied to the aluminum, or is one of these just simply bare aluminum of that color? Just curious if there is paint that could possibly scratch or chip off or not.

No, it is not paint. It certainly could still scratch, as can just about any metal, but it is NOT painted.

Thanks for the info! I guess to me the worst are paint chips that form on other types of phones that are painted metal, so this is great news.
