I am a Verizon customer (for many years) for Internet Connection via Jet Pack;..Cell Phone Connection, Land Line Connection and TV Service (via Dish Network).

They have notified me some time ago that I am eligable for a Smart Phone UpGrade.
I presently have a Motorola DROID Razr Maxx.

My question is:........ What phone should I upgrade to.......I am not very knowledgeable in the "techy field", but would like to remain with a Motorola Phone and an Android OS, since that is what I am familiar with.

Obviously I would like to do the UpGrade without any additional cost to me.

Thank you for any informational help you can give me.

Smartphones need a data plan, so it costs a little more pier month. The cheapest data plan seems to cost $30. So you will pay what you pay plus $30 extra.

My grandparents who are a decade older use phone with the biggest buttons/screen. they don't care about tech and apps. They just need a phone where they can see what they are doing

There has to be a market for phones for senior citizens. These phones should have large buttons and an emergency button. I mean if I had to design a phone for seniors, it would not even resemble the phone I have.

I have a Samsung S5. Motorola is also a good manufacturer.

I would stick with the latest Motorola phones now available. They are fine phones and the transition to a new one would be easy because the menu options etc. would be familiar to you. https://www.motorola.com/us/smartpho...turbo-pdp.html

I would get rid of the landline because nobody I know has a landline anymore. Its just extra.
You want texting, gps, and some internet. Then the usual things the phone will have on it: camera/video, voice recorder, calendar.
People get the unlimited internet/data because they want to watch youtube/tv. If you don't care about that, then get whatever is cheapest. You can't use it anyway because almost everywhere doesn't allow streaming video because it uses up too much bandwidth. StraightTalk was 45$ a month and it would never load. I now have a minutes plan and every couple of months I pay $20.
The phones are all pretty much the same nowdays. The cell phone companies will eventually offer the phone for free. Its much easier to go to a higher cost plan, the phone company never reduce the cost later.
Don't keep too much on your phone, it clogs up the memory. And turn it off every once in awhile. And keep it in a plastic bag so it doesn't deteriorate as fast.

You probably want a large screen as your Droid has. Staying with the newest Motorola would probably be the easiest transition, I say probably because your phone may be several versions behind the latest Android so there may be some learning curve.

To get the equivalent phone to the Droid Maxx now would be a Droid Turbo and I think those will set you back 99 + the upgrade fee of 35.

Check your plan, you may be able to change it and save money with the new options. Mine went from 2Gb shared for 148 last year, to 3GB + 1Gb promo now for 123.

Please take someone in the know with you as not everyone is honest and could talk you into something that would cost you plenty.

Thanks to you all for your responses...............
I went to our local Verizon store today and ended up with the DROID TURBO................
Since I was only averageing about 4 GB usage for the last few months,....I dropped my Data Plan from (10) GB down to (6) GB, and ended up with an overall monthly increase of $7.00.......plus I will get $100 credit for trading in my DROID Raza Maxx.

I am happy with the way it worked out...............
