I am on a cheap no-contract plan and intend to stay that way.

I also do not want a phablet. Currently have an ancient 4s - that, remarkably, still works fine and is as quick (or slow ) as my work-provided Android "flagship" phone. However it is getting a bit old.

So, what's the best reputable online source for a refurbished 5s that doesn't cost an arm and a leg, and would accept a return / exchange if anything went wrong ?

I bought my wife a used 5s from Gazelle that was in great condition and is working fine for her. They were more expensive than buying from an individual, but far more convenient!

Good luck.

Gazelle.com for ease of purchase.
Nextdoor.com if you are a member.

I'd check a local craigslist, and meet the party at the cell phone store for activation. 5S is nearing EOL with maybe one or two OS releases left.
