Recently started looking into smart watches. Wife is always annoyed that I never hear or pickup my phone.

Tried the Asus ZenWatch 2. Took 2 days to realize this wasn't the one for me. Notification was too weak and no way to adjust. Second had to charge it every night. I don't want it to be a burden and constantly checking charge level like a smartphone.

So discovered the Martian Notifier watch ($36 on Amazon). It has a standard clockface with a small text display at the bottom. Exactly what I was looking for. No apps, no fit tracking, etc. All it does is tell time and notifies me of incoming notifications (mainly text and email). On top of that I can adjust notification intensity and pattern.

And since there is only a small text display, don't have to charge for 4-5 days.

Perfect for me.

Two words: Wireless charging. It makes it a non-issue, assuming you're not someone who sleeps with their watch on anyway. Just take it off like any other watch and put it back on in morning like any other watch.

You can change vibrate patterns with Feel the Wear fyi. But yeah, if what you want is just the notification that works fine, and it's more reasonably priced to boot than even the 1st gen Moto 360 is.

Yea I don't get people that complain that it needs charged every night.
"I don't want another thing to worry about!!!" - actually makes NO sense. With a watch that EASILY lasts a full day, I simply DON'T have to worry about it. I just put it on the charger every night. Now... a watch that needs charged every 4-5? Well NOW I have to spend time checking it. Does it need charged tonight? Can I go another day without charging it?

The only advantage is going on a vacation and NOT needing to bring a charger.

That watch looks pretty cool. I might have tried that out before I got my first one to see if it's something I'd like. I can't believe it's $40 on Amazon but $130 from the manufacturer website.

Thus one of my gripes. 1 day vs 4-5 is signifanct enough for me.

Yeah, the watch is lightweight and feels cheap. But for $30 you can't go wrong.
