Idk what is going on with my phone , I have an iPhone 5 . And randomly about a week or two ago the battery has gone to crap .

It'll say 100% open an app and will die plug it in and turn it back on and it says like 58% so I continue to use it and it dies again turn it back on with 30%
For example I just took it off the charger at 100% 3-4 minutes ago I loaded a website to check a happy hour special and now to post this and I am already at 42% and if I tried to open snapchat it would die as it always does , what is the issue

Some things you could try --

-Hard reboot. The easiest thing to try first. Hold power & home button until it restarts. Usually have to hold for 10 seconds.

-Recalibrate. Sometimes the battery simply needs to be calibrated. There are multiple methods & I admit I don't know the exact or best way. Google around.

The battery could be going. (I think my iPhone 5S battery is going fairly soon.) The iPhone 5 was released in 2012, so the battery has likely had loads of use.

The issue is most likely your battery being 2.5 years old. Have it replaced.

Just afraid of going through apple , I broke my screen a year ago and it was out of warranty I didn't have a money for new phone so I went to one of the fix booths in the mall and got a brand new screen for 100 so they will know it was fixed from an outside source and I would have to pay ojt of pocket for a new one regardless

Your phone is way out of warranty. The screen has nothing to do with getting a new battery. Mrs5150 had her battery replaced for under $50. That was for her old iPhone 5. She has since moved on to a iPhone 6. Check out the new iPhone SE.

Where? Or was it a do it yourself kit? I see on the Apple Store it's $79 for Apple to replace the battery out of warranty.

Local independent shop. They did screens for $69. Quality of work seemed fine.

Not a bad price, actually. Apple isn't going to care if someone else replaced your glass.
