Ever since my Droid Turbo 2 got updated with Marshmallow, I can't see my files on my SD card when I plug my phone into my laptop via USB. It shows there's an SD card and that there's used space but it shows blank when I try to look at the files. I read on some forums that if I clear cache and clear data in the external storage and some other folder then reboot it's supposed to rebuild it and I'm supposed to be able to see it again - Maybe. But others have had to do a total system restore. I can't even think about doing that right now.

I'm afraid to clear data and clear cache cause I don't know if that will erase all my pics and my music.

My files show up in the file manager on my phone by the way but it's totally blank when I try to see it on my laptop. I used to be able to drag and drop files with Lollipop but now? Nothing!

So, anybody have any ideas? I knew I should've gotten the Samsung!!

Same phone I have. Also had the same problem.

Clearing the cache and data hurts nothing. This is all rebuilt any time it is missing.

What I did:
Take the Card out. Restart the phone. Insert the card. Restart the phone.
This forces the system to reindex.

Thank you so much for your help! I will try it. I know I have to turn off the phone to remove the SD Card so I'll do that first.

I take it that it worked for you to do this, yeah? I am seriously starting to hate this phone. Ugh.

I tried your suggestion and it worked! I was able to see all the folders and drag/drop stuff in folders through my laptop again. Yay!!!

Thanks very much! I replied you as many as I was able to give.

You're welcome! I love this phone.
And you do NOT have to shut it down to pop open the card tray.
