How Often Do you Check for Texts and E-mails?

My phone sits on a stand on my desk and is also shown as a small picture (Vysor APP) on my screen.

So when an e-mail comes in I can look at it or not.
Texts, the same way. I have a choice because I can "see" who the text is from.

When not on my desk, the notification is vibration, not some crazy loud sound!
Again, I glance and then make a choice to look at it or not.
