I admit I know next to nothing about cell phones - evidenced by me owning an LGL 16C Tracfone. For the past 2 days, no matter where I am, my "Data reception" (if it's even called that) is 1x instead of the usual 3G. Can anyone, without laughing, suggest what the problem might be and how to fix it? Thanks!

Did you go over a data limit? Sometimes when you go over your limit they let you continue to use it but slow you way down. Outside of this it could be a software issue, which may be fixed by a reboot/restore (if that phone has a restore). If it's a hardware issue, it's on to the next phone.

Thanks for the replies. It's a pay as you go phone so I don't think I can really go over on data (?). As far as Perl... I'm not sure this tracfone has an option. I'll keep trying to figure it out!

Who's the carrier?

Some carriers are phasing out 3g as the spectrum can be re-purposed for LTE. Verizon in particular started this practice in 2014.

Concord/Charlotte NC. Still can't figure out who the carrier might be. Maybe I need to upgrade.

From the OP's post, I would have to assume Sprint, Verizon or an MVNO using their network is the cellular provider. GSM carriers won't show 1X for the data connection on the display.

I buy the refill minutes from tracfone. Anyway, I did what I should have done first ; took out and put back the battery. Now it's working fine. Thanks for all of everyone's help!
