I have been a diehard anti-Apple person since Apple’s inception. I finally switched from Android to Apple this week. The sole reason for this switch was the charging port. I’ve had issues with that stupid mini usb on every device I’ve owned.

Anyway, quite pleased with the little iPhone SE. At least until this morning! Every time I’d run an app, it would crash. Looked online for a fix and found this:

“An iOS 11 bug might crash your iPhone on December 2nd“

They were sure quick to fix the issue though and all is well in my little World of Apple. Sure gave me a scare though!

Why didn't you just get a new android phone? The switch to USB type C connectors happened some time ago.

The iPhone SE is nice though.

They released an update today to fix the problem. Go to settings > General > Software update.

Most Android phones with USB-C are north of $200. It's still a high-end feature.

Also, the USB-C world is not all sunshine and roses.

USB-C compatibility problems are the worst! | Pocketnow

I've had a USB-C Android phone for a couple of years. It was quite a shock the first time I connected a USB-C external battery to it and the battery's default behavior was to charge itself from the phone, instead of the other way around!

OTOH, my work iPhone charges dependably every time over its Lightning port. I can understand why OP is satisfied with its simplicity!

If you compare tablets the charging port is a big issue. So many of the charging ports in kindles and other android tablets when children are plugging and unplugging come loose inside and therefore do not charge anymore. I have personally seen this happen at least 6 times. The children with ipads never have this issue due to the way the charging port is encased in metal. So fanboy or not this is a fact I have seen. I personally have no experience with android charging ports so I cannot contribute to this. I am all about apple for iphones

first i have heard of this. I have use C every where i can. It is new, but not new enough for the world to accept it and fix the protocols. I use external batteries and never had a issue with draining or charging anything but what it suppose to charge.

Really think about it, the lighting port is just apple version of the USB C.. just they make it proprietary so they can control the application in hardware and diagram. Good on paper and number, just bad for the consumer on choices. Use apple over price certified hardware and keep your warranty, or pay less for the same thing without the certs and lose your warranty.
