My cellphone is a 2g/3g "flip" phone. I hear rumors of T-M shutting down 2G (and 3G ?) service soon. I tried calling them and what I got from the droid was "We don't know/ aren't allowed to say"
They have my email and text number (obviously) but have seen no alerts, etc.
However, it appears that 2G in my neighborhood has been shutdown, as I am only getting 3G service for the last 10 days, starting just after I called them.
Well, that's unfortunate for me. I don't want a smartphone, I don't like actual "flip" phones. My Kyocera Rally "candy bar" phone is just perfect for me.
Currently T-Mobile has no 4G "candy bars" for sale, only an Alcatel flipphone. It would be like carrying around a brick.
Are there alternatives I'm not aware of ? (Besides switching carriers, as a very low volume user, I like my Legacy plan)
BTW, I've not heard a peep out of T-Mobile directly regarding all this.

Yeah, and I’m moving my Verizon 3G number to my new in September iPhone SE 2020’s nano SIM slot in a few days (hours after moving the AT&T number in there now to the e-SIM on that SE) and ahead of Verizon turning off 3G on 12/31/20, and ahead of my credit balance that they owe me expiring on 12/7/20.
IIRC, AT&T has now moved their 3G cutoff from early 2022 to early 2021 (I haven’t been paying too close attention to that because my AT&T number had been on a cheap 4G Android for years).

Unfortunately, the phone manufacturers are designing and selling phone models that are demanded by the majority of customers and not the minority of customers.
Kind of like saying when you buy a car that you don't want seat belts installed on a new car even if it is mandated by the National Traffic Safety Administration or that you want a new car that uses regular vs. unleaded gasoline. Technology changes over time, like it or not.
Even if you ignore emails or bill inserts, I guarantee you have been advised in the past by T-mobile if you are using a phone technology that is being retired.
Why not just get a modern phone and not try to squeeze life into dead horse? Too many tightwads here. Not that big of a deal. Get rid of that 10 year old $30 tracphone and get a current model
