Apple and Verizon consider iPhone deal - USATODAY.com

There's been some talk of this, but Verizon's network isn't compatible with the current iPhones, so either Apple would have to build a CDMA-compatible phone, or Verizon would have to change its network technology.

Yeah I remember back reading a CNN.com article a while back too and it said the iPhone wouldn't have all the functions of the AT&T iPhones which wouldn't surprise me.

IMO Verizon has the best cell phone service for anyone in the country but the worst selection of cell phone offerings.

That will never happen. ATT is going to do whatever they have to do to keep the Iphone exclusive to them. The Iphone is their golden calf and they are not going to give it up.

I tend to believe this too. I can't imagine they would let anyone get a hold of a product that is keeping them ahead of the game. With the interest in the iPhone it seems for now the only way anyone else is going to be able to use an iPhone on another network is if they get one that is unlocked and I *think* jailbroken.

Yeah, it has to be jailbroken - unlocked is a step beyond jailbroken. A jailbroken phone still won't work on any network other than AT&T. And even then, an unlocked iphone still won't work on Verizon because the technology is incompatible. It will work on TMobile, though.

Thanks for clarifying that. I didn't realize that you couldn't use it on Verizon! That just makes it even less likely that they will have it there anytime soon.....

cant remember where but i read that because verizon would have to update there network ATT would probably resign iphone till 2012. Then after that it will be free for all with most likely ATT and Verizon sharing the iphone, but that was just a predicted rumor so take it as you like.
