If this goes through it could be huge. Both already have a nice variety of phones but instead of competing against each other for lowest prices they would work as one and be far lower in price than AT&T and Verizon Wireless. This would be very good for consumers.

As long as T-Mo is "allowed" to keep their current pricing, I wouldn't mind. They have the cheapest plans/rates out of the major U.S. providers.
Oh, and to add: as long as they are still GSM. SIM cards are the shtiz.
Well, you can scratch that. News Headlines (http://www.cnbc.com/id/42181945 - broken link) (AT&T buys T-Mobile) Amazing, isn't it. Let's hope that Verizon doesn't buy Sprint now... Sprint's perks are too good.

And, at what point will the anti-trust folks stick their monkey wrench into the works?
I was with Alltel when VZ bought them, and they had to divest some of the business.
I went to Sprint rather than go VZ a while later when my contract was up.
I didn't like anything I saw at VZ.
Sprint suits me just fine. But, I don't think I will worry too much about an acquisition. Sprint has enough LT debt to give concern to any acquirer, I think, and VZ bit off a big chunk of debt buying Alltel.
1 - Sprint and Verizon own 99.9% of internet backbone in this country, government will not allow Verizon to own 100% of country's internet lines
2 - Nextel was very big with the Government and made alot of deals, deals Sprint has to carry over once they purchased Nextel, Sprint is a very big supplier to the US Government and has a ton of spectrum thanks to being in bed with Government.....
The Government will not allow Sprint to be brought by Verizon for those reasons alone, not to mention Sprint isn't looking to Sell....T-MO wanted to be brought they made that statement clear as bell no secercy.
But all is not well in paradise, Sprint CEO Dan Hesse has openly admitted that, in hindsight, the carrier’s decision to go with WiMax instead of waiting for LTE probably wasn’t fiscally the best decision in the world. In fact, there’s a lot of buzz that Sprint will be switching to LTE later this year. CDMA 3G and LTE 4G, that sounds like a familiar combination. Could it be that Sprint’s lone-dog status as a WiMax provider is coming back to bite it in the rear? It sure seems like it,
