Blackberry's success is from their enterprise solutions (phones connected to an organizations mail/collaboration infrastructure via BES); as such, its best features are typically associated with those environments. When you talk about consumer based solutions, I don't think they stand out as much.
Based on what you indicated - the coverage of AT&T vs. T-mobile in your area should be a big factor. AFAIK every carrier has blackberries (maybe not a particular model you may want) - but iPhones are AT&T only right now (not including unlocked phones). Whether or not the exclusive contract is extended between Apple/AT&T is still up in the air.
I think on of iPhones biggest advantages is the wealth of applications - but its worthless if you can't get a signal half the time to use it as a phone.
To me, coverage should always be top priority. Meaning I'd pick the carrier that has the most coverage in my area - then look at the phones. The 4 items you indicated that are priorities, I think there are more phones that have those capabilities than those that don't.
That is the bind I am in --- I would LOVE an iPhone but I have AT&T and I keep going places where my friends on Verizon have full coverage and I have none.
I am looking at the LG env touch........... Can't get to my work email that way, but they can buy me a Crackberry if they think I am that important - which I am not -
I've had an iPhone for about two months. I live in a city of about 300,000, that is about a 3 hour drive from anything significant - so AT&T was slow to bring service to my area.
Anyway, I had the EDGE internet service for about a month. It is almost useless. The iPhone was still very useful for me personally, as it completely replaced my iPod, worked fine as a mobile internet device when connected to Wifi, and was also a functional phone.
Now that I have 3G, I'm VERY happy with my iPhone. I've never owned a blackberry, but my roomate is a bit of a mobile phone junkie - he claims his iPhone has far more features than his blackberry.
I will say that both of us went through a tremendous hassle to get the phone activated. AT&T would give us the runaround, passing us from one snotty-nosed teenager to the next, having to re-explain the same thing over and over and over... I knew what the problem was, going into the activiation (thanks to my roomate's problems), and it still took me about 3 hours.
I would hold out for the Droid - just to see what it has to offer. The Verizon 3G network is superior to that of AT&T's, so it might make sense to hold on for another month or so if you can.
It depends on what you want to do with your phone. Blackberries used to be geared toward the buisness crowd and they are supposed to have really, really good email capabilities and such.
If you want a phone that is geared more toward playing and multimedia, the the iPhone is for you. It has a better web browser (I'm actually typing this comment from my iPhone) and the native apps (i.e. Facebook) tend to look way better and more user friendly on the iPhone. The email is still really good on the iPhone too. Not to mention the ipod.
Think of Blackberries as the PC's of cell phones and iPhones as the Macs. Just go to a cell phone store and play with some of each and decide which is more suited to your needs.
I have a Blackberry Curve, I really like it. I have a 2G iPod touch as well and its like I can't live without it lol. I use my iPod a lot more than my Blackberry, I want to upgrade to an iPhone mainly to have an all in one device as opposed to two devices. I like the idea of being able to use my Wifi apps anywhere (I can only use my iPod touch at home, malls, etc.). I also want a better camera, gps, etc.
This is just me, a lot of people love Blackberry's (including me but the iPhone just does it for me).
I got the BB Bold earlier this year and it's awesome. I just wish AT&Ts coverage was better. It's good for me here in Tampa, but when I went to Tennessee in September it was just awful! This is the first BB device I've had. I did not leave Windows Mobile without a fight (lol!). I got the BB Bold and a BB Curve for dh all for free so it's hard to complain.

I recently bought the BB 9700 Bold and I love it. My wife has an I-Phone and it's cool too. I've found thousands of apps for the blackberry and so far I'm very happy with it. I've thought of getting an I-phone but am so happy with the BB that I really don't need to change.
As for all of this coverage talk about ATT. I have no issues at all and I travel all of the time. And with wi-fi and bluetooth being everywhere I really am never lacking for high speed Internet capabilities. Plus, the screen on my BB Bold is far superior in resolution to the I-Phone, albeit smaller.
Blackberry is the best phone I have ever used. IPhone is "pretty", has great apps and the touch is awesome. The downside is that your battery life will suck the life out of you. I work with a team of sales guys that all use Iphones and all day long they are hooked up to their chargers. No thanks.

its been my experience that blackberry battery life is nothing to brag about either.
if i don't charge my phone at some point during the day, its dead by 4PM unless i'm using it more than usual, in which case its dead by 1PM.
I fully charge it every night as well.
