I'm going to be switching services in the next couple months and I definitely want to go with a Blackberry; i'm not interested in anything else as I do not like touch screen phones, now I'm just trying to decide on what might be best.

1. I'm not too interested in applications, but I'd like an excel type program where I can keep track of my poker as that is my main income (i'm tired of notebooks, and a phone will be more convienent than a laptop).

2. I am also looking for something with good web browsing and a good screen because my phone will be my main source of internet connection and I'll be using it to pay bills.

I'm assuming service will be the same in both. Is there anything else to take into consideration from these phones? Are they both going to be pretty similar? I was planning to do T-Mobile but after doing more research I think Sprint will be a better choice in terms of service provider for me (hey i'm young and still gotta pay for college here)

Both excellent phones. If I had to select one. It will be the 9700 Bold. better quality screen display. An optical track pad instead of a track ball. Big + is that it has 3G, which will be faster internet. Curve has Edge(slow).More memory with the Bold.
Hands down winner is the Bold.

Curve might be the easiest blackberry to use and it also works on the 3G network but unlike the previous poster who is misinformed, the Curve now uses a track pad too. The trackball for the Curve was discontinued. The screen is not huge. If you are going to Sprint, I don't blame you. I'm a Verizon customer but because of the rates I might switch too in the near future. Sprint also has the best coverage after Verizon. I would still suggest to go into a store to play around with phones to see what fits you best. There are tons of phones like Palms which also might be to your liking. As for memory, most phones nowadays can have memory cards put in the back to expand their memory.

Curve only surfs on EDGE, that's very slow, and doesn't let you log into a lot of sites. 3G is way better, you should look at the Nokia E71 or Nokia N97, but the Bold is a good choice too!

Sprint doesn't carry the E71 or N97 devices on their CDMA network- In fact outside of maybe NYC, L.A., SF and D.C. mainly areas where Euros and people from the Pacific Rim have relocated to, you won't find alot of individuals carrying around NOKIA Smartphones -

I have the Blackberry Tour with the tracball with Sprint and the Simply Everything plan - The browser on the new Bold is slightly better and so is the screen resolution - you may want to wait until September when they release
Blackberry OS 6 with the new browser and will have a new Blackberry device at Sprint called the Atlas - it's going to look a lot like the Bold but with a touch-screen and a QWERTY keyboard - not a slide-up like the Talladega Blackberry released with AT&T the end of August - Until then at Sprint it's all about the Evo!

Just traded in my Curve for an iPhone today. I got an iPhone just b/c I wanted it; I loved my BB though b/c of the full QWERTY keyboard.
