Just a head's up...the original posters in this thread started it in 2007. I hope they've moved down already

Hi all! We are also from Ocean County in NJ and just came back from DI - love it! Hoping to move there by next year (already sold our home- yay!) after this current school year- if we are not golfers, will it be difficult to meet people? Also, since there is not a central community pool/clubhouse as in other communities, do people tend to stay in their own area??? Thanks for all the information!

We moved to DI in July of this year and are certain we made the right choice for our family. We have met tons of people just on our street, all with kids around the same age just playing outside. There are two community pools and multiple parks, you can choose which one you use based on what you prefer. People gravitate toward the parks and are out on bikes and outdoors so often. We generally vary the parks we go to. We live in a rental just a block from Etiwan Park, but we go over to the Pirate Park at Smythe a good bit and ride bikes around Smythe lake as well. I wouldn't worry about not being golfers, some people are and others are not, many play tennis. People meet in lots of different ways, I have met most of the people I know through the schools where my kids go and just on the street where we live. There are a ton of community event at different points of the year, so that helps with meeting people as well! We are very happy here and are sure we made the right choice! You will love it!
