This is great news! Congrats to Charleston! Having played on my high school tennis team, I can tell you, IMO, there is no better sport for overall cardio and total body health.

Back to it, it is a great moment for this town, as a lot of people will look at Charleston in a different light.

I love playing tennis! Many/most of the students and teachers where I teach play....we even have our own school tennis team for 4th and 5th graders. It is a great cardiovascular workout, inexpensive, and gets you out in the fresh air.

I hope that winning this award will encourage the city to put lights on our Johns Island courts so we can continue to play after the sun goes down. I'm a member at Maybank Tennis Center too, but our J.I. courts are closer for a quick, spur-of-the-moment game - which is usually in the evening.

Does the city or county win this?

I believe it is the city. Our Johns Island courts are maintained by City of Charleston, which is why I am hoping they get us some lights out here.
