Hi all!

Last year when I began my search into the Charleston area I found small carriage houses for rent in downtown Charleston. We were planning on living there for a month or so until we found our rental. I know this probably isn't necessary but we wanted to live downtown for a bit before we settle into Mt. Pleasant. But now I can't find the houses I found before! They were small and extremely charming but I am almost positive they had 2 bedroom ones.

Do any of you know the ones I am remembering? I found quite a few but none with 2 bedrooms.

thanks for any help. House is on the market now so the move is becoming real very fast! So long as we can sell our home!! Fingers crossed!

Good luck with your house sale. Ours was on the market for a year and husband's company here couldn't wait any longer to transfer him. We had to move here and rent last November, leaving our house on the market. We've been paying rent AND mortgage ever since. FINALLY we got our FIRST (and only) offer and our house in NC will close on 2/28. We now have a contract on a house here....hopefully to close on 3/30. All in all, the house sale process in NC will have taken a grand total of 15 months by closing. As I said, best of luck!! In this market, we all need it........

Wow! on the market for a year!! That's a long time! I hope we don't have to wait that long! But you're right you never know with this market! We are moving by choice so we won't move until house is sold!
do you have any tips on good rentals? or rental sites? We want to live in Mt P and rent for a while until we are sure we made the right move. We will be leaving a lot of close family and friends so it will be a definite transistion!! So not going to buy until we know we are staying for good! How do you like it so far?
Good Luck with your current contract! Hope all goes smoothly!

lang.... We *had* to move in November of 2010, leaving our house on the market there. My husband's company needed him to start the job here. Luckily, as I said, it finally sold. We love it here so far. Thanks for the good wishes on the current contract. All is moving along smoothly, so we are hoping to close at the end of March as planned. After this house sale experience (my 8th), I don't think I want to go through it ever again. Fourteen months on the market is WAY too much stress!! Best of luck with your sale. I'll be keeping my fingers crossed!

Have you tried vrbo.com? I found a great deal on there for my parents when they visited for 2 months this winter. If you find something you are interested in it is best to contact the owner about prices though as a lot of the rentals on that site will list weekly rates but most owners will rent it for a much lower price if you are going to be staying for a few months. Good luck!

Thanks newtotheocean! I found quite a few on vrbo! If only we could book now for the fall we found a lot of great places! Hopefully our house sells soon so we can get a good one!
