Hi, I am moving to the Mount Pleasant area some time soon and have a few questions. How is Jennie Moore Elementary school and Mamie P. Whitesides Elementary school? Also, out of the two which is better? Are there any areas that I should stay away from and which subdivisions/ areas are the best? Also, any info about living in Mount Pleasant is appreciated. Thank you.
I think they are both good schools. Whiteside is a beautiful brand new campus. It looks like a Hight School. Jennie Moore is old and they are suppose to close the school and rebuild a new campus for Laing and Jennie Moore. But we don't know when this will happen yet.
But they both have lots of great community/parent support. SO don't judge the schools by the area they are in or their look. I would go and talk to the administrators at both schools. I know they would be happy to tour you around.
Which subdivisions are the best for kids in Mount Pleasant? How is the Hamlin Plantation/Hamlin Park neighborhood? Also, how is Jennie Moore? Are fire ants a problem in Mount Pleasant?

I am not sure I would call it a problem. You do get the mounds poppinf up in your yard but the dust (powder) products wipe them out pretty fast.
Mamie Whitesides is gorgeous. Hamlin Plantation is about a kid-friendly as you can imagine. Great neighborhood pool and amenities, lots of sidewalks, and quite a large population of kids playing around in cul de sacs and green spaces. Definitely worth a visit.
