Phew, I thought I was going crazy when I couldn't find a spell check option. I must have spent five minutes looking for it after Tom mentioned it. It just doesn't exist on my tablet. Guess that means I get a free pass to bad spelling, right?

I agree. No one can help you love any place, but many people love Charleston and there is so much to do here. You just have to come and give it a try and I think you will find this a very good place to live.

What a prima dona! And a few other even less-flattering words come to mind ...

I saw the post title and had to comment. We live in SE Houston area and visited Charleston 2 years ago. We stayed for a week and were overwhelmed with how much stuff there is to experience in your city. Even in February (my birthday month) it was beautiful. Whoever does not love Charleston needs to seek medical attention. And yes we saw the bad side, too, but what city does not have that.

My girlfriend said Charleston is her favorite city - and she is the type that loves the blinking lights of Vegas and the fast paced streets of NYC. Hoping to come back soon to the French Quarter Inn! Your city is amazing.

Default nothing wrong with North Charleston

There's nothing wrong with North Charleston. Every city has its ghosts. I've lived in North Charleston for almost 5 years and haven't had any problems. It really only matters about you and where you want to be. North Charleston residents are laid back people who are cordial and considerate. The driving is bad during rush hours when people are commuting to and from work.
To say you have heard "stay away from North Charleston" is allowing someone else to experience life for you. Find out for yourself. Stay in one of the hotels and walk around town...then make your own judgement call...

I think to anywhere you move it is a decision if you will like to embrace the change of the new environment. It will all up to you.

best to rent for a while at least 1 year to give you the whole 4 seasons to observe before you decide to buy a house. But then make sure you do explore the city of MT. Pleasant, N. Charleston, Summerville & other areas

As it doesnt make sence if you move here & stay in your room and you will say you dont like it here

For me personally it is how you want to like it here & what is it really you're looking for to make you like ONE PLACE/ ONE STATE or one awesome place to call it home.

So you need to decide first " what do I want" what can I live with/without?
the nthats the best way to decide this place is for me :-)

that is my own humble opinion...hope you'll be able to like it where ever you decide
as for me I like Mt. Pleasant to live but love to shop/dine in Charleston area.

No not fighting the Civil War, fighting reconstruction...
