OK, WTH is up with the gate workers at James Island County Park?

We have a county park pass and we go over to JICP couple of times a month for the playground and such. We bought the pass because we go to Beachwalker Park all the time, where the gate workers are very friendly and wave you on through when they see the pass.

But at JICP, I am practically interrogated.

I am a mom, I drive a sedan. I have my 4 year old daughter in the back seat.

Today, when I go through, the guy at the gate says, "how many people are in your car"?

I say "two".

He looks in the car. Please note it is not a Suburban.

He says "Are you sure?"

I say, "yes".

He says, "Really?"

I'm thinking, WTH is wrong with you? It is just me and my daughter in the car, that is pretty clear.

So then he is inspecting my parking pass. He actually took it over to the other gate worker for HIM to look at.

I thought they were gonna make me pop my trunk and have me show them my passport.

It's a county PARK, people. Relax. I'm just sayin....

You have no clue what is going on behind the scenes, I would not be so quick to judge or claim victim.
There is a lot of "gang type" activity going on down there right now.

Interesting.

I do not exactly look like a gang member, though.

What only 'gang' members commit crimes are do bad things. I wish that was the case.

The "really" question was kind of over the top, but as far as him asking you how many people in the car; that's standard. I go to Palmetto Island County Park several times a week, and the only time they don't ask me how many people are in the car is when all the windows are down and they are able to count for themselves. I don't know if there is a limit to how many people can come in on your pass, or if they are just keeping a head count.

True, but you said gang activity.

It may be stereotypical, but also true, that gang members look like a certain type.

Not a white (there I said it) woman in a 4 door luxury (there I said that, too) car with a little girl in the back seat.

Also, I kinda told the story to be funny. Lighten up.

Said what? Calling yourself a white woman? Big deal.
You may have been trying to be kinda funny but you weren't, those people at the gates are doing their job. Call CCPR if you have concerns.
