Where does he work and where do you want to live?

What is important to you, close to the beach with good schools is going to cost more than living 35~60 minutes from the beach with equally good schools....

He is working on the cooper river, near goose creek and the naval weapons station. I would like to stay away from that area and live around daniel island (or something like it). We are a champagne couple on a beer budget...Our max to spend from the company is only 800$. Any suggestions of a nice area, with places to walk/shopping/ that are affordable?

You won't find anything like that one DI or MtP, but Summerville, West Ashley are doable...

For 800 I would stay in goose creek...there's plenty of stuff to do in north charleston by the mall. You're also close to the outlet mall, Summerville. Di is not too far of a drive and neither is mp

Safe....there are many. New, I'm not so sure. Also, if it's a new complex, $800/month may not cut it. When we rented here (also moving here for husband's job), we found several nice apt. complexes in Summerville.

Get used to beer in Summerville, North Charleston or Goose Creek.

You need a Cristal budget for "Daniel Island (or something like it)"

Me either! Sullivan's island is the most boring , lame beach in Charleston! No waves, and nothing there! It sucks there! Young and upbeat ? Haaaaaaaa! People (mostly older women) go there to read books.
