Job transfer?
Military move?
Fell in love with the area while visiting?
Born and raised?
Family?

Just curious how you ended up here? I moved here 7 years ago to be closer to friends and family.

My husband was offered a job he couldn't pass up. When he asked me if I wanted to relocate to the Charleston area (thinking we were content where we were), I said "hell, yeah". The kids like being close to the beach/ocean and we like how green everything is. The history, the people, the location....we love it here (the family moved here about 2 months ago).

We have no friends and family in the Carolinas. We moved to the Carolinas from Maine 7 years ago....no regrets.

When I moved here I asked my x-sister in law where I should move. I have children who are now 3, 5, 14 and 19. She told me Mount Pleasant and she was right!

I love the schools here in Mount Pleasant and have never had a complaint. Right now I have one in Kindergarten, one in High school and one in College. I have experienced each school and am pleased with the experience. I honestly can't say that about other places I have lived. (FL< NC<VA)

Wife and I were looking to retire to a temperate climate which meant south of Wilmington NC but did not want to got to the old folks home (Florida). She has family in Columbia SC but we never considered there.

We had vacationed up and down the coast many, many times and Charleston appealed to us the most.

Very early on balmy August morning in 1981, my mother went into labor and was taken to St Francis (back when it was downtown).

Sometime around sunrise, I found myself in the Holy City.

Moved totally for the area.
i.e. the surroundings, the people, the lifestyle, the schools, the weather

We have no family here at all. Closest is in Raleigh.
We also left no family in NYC so that was easy.

Did not even have a job. Speaking of that... I am having a hard time reciprocating my license to S.C. and have been commuting between Chas. and NYC each month for 4 months for income and benefits and it looks like 4 more months... sheesh.

But would not give up this area for anything... and no regret moving too soon. We actually should have moved sooner, job or not. The 9 month long short sale delayed us. I am also lucky to be able to continue and get to work in NYC of course.

I have had no problem with the so called Hot and Humid weather at all.
Hey it is summertime... I do not expect snow
Some local residents have said in the years they have lived here, this summer was very bad. I think to myself, if this is bad... it is good. I only wear t-shirts and shorts. I did find the a/c on at home all the time day and night. One reason is, open the windows even when cool, the humidity comes in. Though on many a day I open all the windows to get some fresh air and close them all after a bit.

I keep imagining winter time in NYC and the snow, cold and ice and it is all behind us. We look at last winters photos and especially when it snowed 24" day after xmas and drifts around my house were 4'. The streets took a week to be cleared. No more of that ! The snow is beautiful when it falls and fun in the beginning and I enjoy shoveling around my house, But traded in the snowshovel for a mower now. I mow my 1/3 acre weekly and great exercise.

Truly each day... each time I drive down and spend time there, I love it
more and more. The area, people, playgrounds.

I started biking again and love that I can almost all year round.

Love taking my son after daycare (he will be 3 next month) to a playground after or of course the pool. I think it is so fabulous I pick him up from school and we head for the pool for 1-2 hours before going home for dinner. People have been great and finding more and more places be it food shopping, housewares shopping etc. all the time.

Enjoy Mount Pleasant and a hop, skip and a jump to downtown Charleston. Enjoy residing in Mount Pleasant and enjoy Park West where we live.

The other Sunday, my wife took the boy to the MP Recreation Ctr to let him play in the playground as she ran track. I hopped on my bike and surprised them. We all hung out and went for breakfast. Then when we got home we showered, changed and we hopped back in the car and went to the Home Show in downtown Charleston. Upon coming back, I took the boy swimming till supper. I most beautiful day for all of us and something this area gives us.

Great idea for a post Beachme !!!

Boeing.... Best opportunity, start up facility, new different airplane, hoping to be an expert on it and ride the rest of my career off this airplane. With Boeing or the airlines.

Sent from my autocorrect butchering device.
