I am looking for a good tree to buy maybe somewhat memorable. Something that won't get killed in a freeze, last years and years...

Something that will last in this climate basically.

Thank you, bonus points if you guys know a nursery or something i can get it at.

Small tree or large tree? Tropical, evergreen, or deciduous? Do you want flowering or are looking for unique leaves/bark? That will help narrow the choices. There are many, many trees that you can choose that would absolutely thrive in this climate and some are naturally disease resistant.

Something flowering would be cool I suppose. My mom wants to buy and plant a tree in our yard, for her grandson. My great grandmother bought apple trees for my brothers. My mom is just looking to kind of continue the tradition.

I of course want low maintenance for the most part.

My favorite tree that I have seen since moving here was the giant Mimosa that was in the back yard of the rental we had for a while. I KNOW they are bad invasive trees, but I seriously wanted to buy that house just for the tree!

As far as what you should plant, how much room you have, how far will it be from structures, do you want a fast or slow grower, do you want it to be a shade tree eventually, plus the other questions that others asked will help narrow down a choice.

My all time favorite tree would be the Crimson King Maple. It's not supposed to do well in this zone, but I had a few amazing specimens back in Washington. (Yes, that chilly rainy state has the same zone. Crazy huh?)
Other warm temp hardier maples like a Norway Maple (stunning!) would be great, and they grow relatively quickly.

October Glory is a maple that does well here. You get the very bright orange leaves in fall. Looks a bit like they're on fire. Very pretty. Nice white bark indicative of maples.
