We booked a vacation in Charleston,SC for July.We are renting a vacation condo on a lake about 7 miles from beaches. As I researched more the property is actually in North Charleston!I was clueless that there are problems there. We want to be near Charleston historical things and beaches. From what I've read here and on other sites it is the most crime ridden city in S.C. Help! Is it that bad?I am told it's near Walmart and Sam's club in North Charleston...does anyone know this area?
Yes I know this area and yes you made a mistake. If you can cancel your reservations then I would recommend doing so. I'm not saying this because you would be in danger staying there, I am saying this because this is not the right area to stay in for a vacation in Charleston. It is located near industrial and commercial, the convention center and the airport. It is far from the Charleston attractions and beaches and will require you driving back and forth everyday on the interstate. You need to find something in either the downtown Charleston historic area where you can step out of your hotel and walk around the city or on the beaches somewhere like Isle of Palms or Sullivans Island, even someplace in Mount Pleasant would be better.
AVA, I sent you a PM.

AVA.....I am so sorry that someone has fooled you. I'd like to know what "lake" this "vacation condo" is on. Did they tell you the name of it?? I am not at all aware of any "lake" in that area.
