We are looking for an inexpensive wedding venue for a small June wedding. We'd prefer to be able to have ceremony & reception in one place and would prefer to have tables and chairs included in the price. We'd like to stay under $1000 if at all possible. Simple but beautiful. Summerville to Charleston areas. Indoor and/or Outdoor. Less than 100 people. Ideas?
Don't know the costs, but have you looked into some of the plantations? They are all beautiful and could probably accommodate all sizes. Were you thinking of under $1,000 and that including food?
Probably not. Maybe they could marry on the grounds and dine elsewhere. $1,000 for 100 people is tough. A teacher of my daughters just married on the beach and then had a room at one of the local restaurants with a buffet. That may be possible.
It will be tough to keep under that price point. I had my ceremony at a cute chapel downtown (it has since moved to James Island) and my reception at the Charleston Aquarium on their rooftop terrace. The aquarium charged me $400 for the rental space, but it only accommodates a small group of people. The plantations are ridiculously expensive though, and my guest list was only 30 people. If you want to check out the chapel, google Charleston Chapel. They offer different wedding packages.

Save some money from your first wedding to help toward your 2nd wedding.......LOL
I know someone that got married in the bandstand at Hampton Park. I've always thought it and the large fountain were attractive. She said the rental fee was ridiculously low.
I wonder if the same can be done at Whitepoint Garden?
If one of you is military you can use the Sumerall Chapel at the Citadel- another friend came very close to doing that.
My neighbors rented a portion of the old Exchange House downtown on East Bay for their daughter's wedding. I believe it was an atrium or grand lobby. She said it was plenty big and a great deal. The nice thing about that building is the huge monumnetal stairs and colonade.
You can also rent the Exchange Club building on IOP- it looks a little ranch housish but it backs up to the intercoastal, has a catering kitchen and looks out over the intercoastal and about a mile of marsh.
There is a chapel at MUSC that rents out as well and they have an old house they converted for catering a few years back.
My only other thought would be renting the dock at Crosbys ar Folly. Not necessarily elegant but very attractive.
I think the food/beverage cost will be your biggie.
As far as truth in advertising- I'm a guy and not married so this may not fit a woman's preferences.
Hi, I'm looking for a banquet hall to rent on November 1, 2014. It's my Mother's 75th Birthday/Appreciation Program for her. We are looking between 100-200 guest to attend and the price under $1000. Where do you recommend us to look for. And somewhere West Ashley or James Island, SC.
Thanks, Shirley
