At the risk of sounding like the Dos Equis guy, I don't buy steak often, but when I do, I prefer the New York Butcher Shoppe. For ribs, Whole Foods can't be beat.
The newer Greenwood store on Hwy 72 was on the list as being purchased by BI-LO. The store in South Greenwood is a discount store and not sure what is happening with that. I believe the other 3 stores are independents.
Piggly Wiggly is no longer in Saluda. One less store to worry about.
South Main Street, Greenwood (Price Wise Foods) and Ware Shoals are operated by Piggly Wiggly Carolina. If Publix plans on a second Greenwood store on the south side, I could see Price Wise Foods closing. Ware Shoals could go independent with an IGA.
Ninety Six is independently owned. The store is closed Sundays, bad for perishable foods spoiling and increasing inventory expenses. That town may need a better grocer.
I think Greenwood can benefit from the presence of Ingle's.
Southern Season, Whole Foods.....and I wonder they will offer that service at some of the Pigs.
At least there's a whole foods on our side of downtown so that might be worth a shot... The Northbridge Pig was surprisingly good with growers and I heard good things about the one on James Island too.
Gas station attendants I've seen can barely make change; trying to deal with one of these sounds like it might be more than they can handle.
Northbridge Pig is closing, along with Otranto Pig and I think the Dorchester Rd Piggly Wiggly. Heard that rumor today. Northbridge is definitely closing.
I know the Pig is not a great grocery chain but still sad to see them fade away.
