And only southerners say 'sweet tea'.....everyone else says 'iced tea'.

Actually I simply say "tea"...since it's supposed to sweet already.

Yep....I don't know of any southerner that calls it sweet tea. Simply call it tea.....just like soda is a "coke"...

Still don't see the relevance of this thread.

Culturally, NOVA has lost some of its Southerness but the historic artifacts are still there.

The Tidewater area sometimes gets questioned because of the military influence (which Charleston once had in spades with the former Navy base), but it's still Southern.

The rest of VA? No question.

Yeah after I posted I realized - in the south you say tea...old school -- and get sweet tea. It's only recently that us gals watching our figures grow while we eat biscuits, grits, pimento cheese and BBQ......started to as for that tea without sugar -- as if it will make difference.

I was born in Danville, VA. That city is more Southern than Charleston ever was or will be.

Lord, ain't that the truth. I grew up drinking sweet tea but as an adult, not so much. I still make tea for my family though but even they drink it with a lot less sugar. Used to always make a pitcher with one cup of sugar and now, it's only a half a cup.

We would say either coke or Pepsi...but most of the time we just said "drink". A drink was always a soft drink.

This thread is so totally miss categorized. The mods evidently don't care...I have reported it multiple times.

You don't even have to say soda for us to know you're a Yankee. The "take off" statement is all we needed!

LoL
