My husband, two children and I are relocating to Summerville from Illinois in about a month. We still need to find a place to rent. We are open to an apartment, townhouse or single detached home. Our budget is tight especially at first. We are looking to stay under $1000 a month. I know alot of the apartment complexes require good credit. Ours is not great. A year ago my husband had brain surgery and because of all the time off we got behind on our mortgage. We are trying to short sale our home now but the foreclosure process is still active. We would like something in the Dorchester 2 school district. Any suggestions of how to find a home when Im 800 miles away?

That's all a pretty tough order. Do you need 2 bedrooms or 3?

You will probably have to spend $1100-1200 per month to make it doable. Our rental rates are high here. Do you have pets?

Craigslist is a good source, many apartments and homes for rent there. Also check out Search Apartments for Rent in Summerville, SC - realtor.com®

For more options, you can always look up property management companies in the area. There are several large ones in Summeville, or even contact a Realtor to help you find ones listed on the MLS.

This thread has become jr. High school like....

None of this helps the OP. it sounds as though she has her hands full.

OP, I do not have much to share on the Summerville area. Do you have family there?
