Even if the schools are full to bursting they are still among the best in the state, at least Wando is, and they are still getting money pumped into them to grow, especially with the Center for Advanced Studies that should be complete in time for next school year. They are also building a new regional football stadium at the campus. Granted by the time they complete the new building they will have to start construction on another due to overcrowding.

Just read recently that after a few weeks of begging for money for a new high school, the county basically told them to wait, Wando has gotten enough attention lately, etc. and they needed to give attention to other areas. So they are shifting their attention to a new stadium for North Charleston.

Yet another reason it would be so much better if Mt P could separate itself from CCSD and run its own school district.

The bastard wants to build a new school and sports facility for 200 people.... and North Charleston has 6 high schools for fewer students than Wando does.
Back on Wando though.... I think it's funny that they think that Wando has until 2019 to reach 3,800 students when as of last December there were more than 3,700 students at the school. At the rate that the school is growing by the time they get around to finishing the new school Wando will have 4.5k students and the new school is reported to only be big enough for 900, if it's green lighted that is.
I do think Mt. Pleasant needs a second high school. That school board member has probably just been driven crazy having to listen to entitled, pushy Mt. P parents for years. I sympathize, but he still needs to put the needs of the children above the annoyance he probably feels toward their obnoxious parents.
