Hi,

My wife and I are pretty much in the same boat and are moving to the area with actually slightly less to spend. We too looked at Summerville and the surrounding areas and they are very nice indeed but, we thought that if you are going to live in Charleston, live in Charleston.

Summerville is a 30-40 minute drive to downtown and we decided that once you've done that trip a couple of times, after having had a nice meal and a couple of drinks in our fave Italian, that drive no longer looks appealing. After that, you'll probably rarely see Charleston again.....lol

So, we were looking at West Ashley and parts of North Charleston. Both within our 20 minute driving threshold. West Ashley is in our opinion, generally nicer. North Charleston has pockets of lovely but you need to drive through less than lovely to get there. Sigh

Then we found Wando Woods subdivision. I have not visited yet as we are in the process of selling our home and not got an offer yet, but it looks like a really nice hanging moss, quite looking neighborhood. I could be wrong and hate it upon visiting but it does look like good value. Also, it's 15 minutes from downtown and 20 from the beaches and has a community boat launch...

Does anyone here know whether it's a good or bad neighborhood and/or what it's like getting in or out?

Very excited and very curious. Did you guys find your place yet?

And on a side note, I absolutely enjoy the Windsor Hill neighborhood, it's beautiful with mature trees and quiet streets. I would and do recommend many folks take a look at the neighborhood when they have a budget range of $150k to $250k and they are looking for a little less hustle bustle. Homes are selling like hot cakes in there at the moment.

My apologies if this is posting twice! I can't seem to find where my first message went. I wanted to thank everyone for your helpful info and advice. I also wanted to give you an update. As fate would have it, my husband unexpectedly received a job offer from a different company in Murrells Inlet. Now, we are searching two areas and are trying to figure out which place would suit our family best. I will be sure to post further updates!
