My wife and I are thinking about taking a trip to Mt P the weekend of October 17-18. We have 2 kids that love the beach. Having not been down that time of year I was wondering if the normal weather that time of year would be suitable for beach time? Also, if there are any other events that weekend that anyone knows of please let me know. Kids are 10 & 6. Thanks in advance.

I've been in the water that late in the year. It all depends of course on Mother Nature.

That was the same weekend I came down last year. The water was chilly, but not cold, but I wouldnt have gotten in it up to my waist, just my knees. The air temp dropped off chilly too.

At that time of year, you have to have a WAY-above normal air temp to enjoy the water. We were at the beach last weekend, the temp was low 80s with strong sun, and although the water wasn't cold, it wasn't warm either, and when we came out of it, we were goose bumpy and took forever to warm up... The beach part of it was great, but can't say the same about the water experience.

Qualifier here -- I grew up in Bermuda and won't be having cold temps in the ocean -- no thank you. but I have been in mid October and it was fine -- walk in -- and I'm talking I don't do cold water.

I find myself swimming that late in the year. This is a source for actual water temps:

I was at Kiawah yesterday and after a round of golf decided to grab some beach time ....the water temp was posted as 77... about normal for this time of year ... so guess it should be around 75 about the middle of next month....cool .... but easily swimmable.. especially after a warm and sticky day as it was yesterday.
