They are more of a publix/ht model. Very nice stores. In the Charlotte area, they closed several of the stores and Publix is/has will go into those markets. I enjoyed shopping there and missed it when the one closest to us closed. Here in MTP, with a Publix so close, I wouldn't drive to the Lowe's simoly because of the traffic issues.

Chromekitty hit the nail on the head.

I shop at Lowes Foods in Wilmington all the time when I am up there. It's a nice store. If I had to characterize it, it's between a Harris Teeter and a Publix.

A better assortment than Harris Teeter and cleaner and more organized, but not on par with Publix.

I thought it was the most reasonable store with great quality. I'm not sure if that still holds true or not. In the Charlotte area, I'd drive by the HT, food lion, Walmart, and Aldis. It was my prefered grocery store at the time but that was 6ish years ago.

Lowe's Foods failed in the Charlotte-Concord-Gastonia, North Carolina-South Carolina metropolitan statistical area. The decision to leapfrog a failed market into distant markets is risky.

It has been at least eight years since I last went into a Lowe's Foods store. The last store I went in was nice. Drawbacks were higher prices, the lack of a pharmacy department, and the lack of friendliness from its front end associates. It was better than Food Lion, but not as good as Harris Teeter and Publix.

As a whole, we find that the attitude of Publix employees to be the best. Just like when I go to ChickFilA, they always seem happy and cheerful. When they smile and say "Have a nice day" I feel they really mean it, that it's not just an automatic programmed statement.

Successful businesses that values its associates will have happy associates. Publix and Chick-Fil-A are two businesses that are desired by many to work for.

You cant tell the difference in service at Chick-Fil-A vs a typical McDonalds or Burgerking? Publix vs Walmart?

Granted, there's always exceptions.

I tend to need to smile, joke, and pull a positive attitude out of many customer facing employees, and even then it often feels fake and forced. I find that I don't need to do that with the typical Publix employee. In fact the opposite is true. They engage me initially. They start with that smile and positive attitude that doesn't feel its being performed simply as a function of their job. I don't know if it's wages, management programs, hiring practices or what. It's just what we've noticed.

nope no difference. I'm a smiley chatty kind of gal...so I get the same at Walmart as I do at Publix, HT or Trader Joe's - never have noticed a big difference. sometimes I notice a difference but it is more about time of day, crowds, holiday kind of thing.
