I know when we were down 6 years ago it was pretty good at SNOB, of course that is downtown though? We will be back down soon and plan to try it there again!

My wife had a co-worker whose family were slave descendants that had lived in Charleston for many generations. In the early 2000's, she maintained that the Shrimp and Grits at Justine's Kitchen were the same as her Great Grandmother and her Grandmother had been making for generations. We often went there with her.

To everyone, thank you for the replies (yes, even you folks who essentially said "I dunno, google it! )

Nigel's is where I ended up after getting a very big recommendation from one of my future co-workers. It was great. The Geechie Wings and bread pudding were quite nice as well. I can see myself going broke and getting fat if I visit this place too often once I've moved.

I would recommend Angel Oak on Johns Island. Hands down, the tastiest I've had out of Charleston.

Oscars is definitely best for shrimp and grits in Summerville. Never had a bad meal there.
