We just moved from Daniel Island to MP (Carolina Park).

I noticed that my first Comcast bill was much higher and realized that they charged me $20 more a month for the "Preferred Triple Play" package.

When I called and asked them what was going on, they told me that they have different prices in different areas. But we have a 2 year contract - which they wouldn't let us out of, so how can they now change the price of the contracted rate?

Legit? Or is it as fishy and slimy as it feels? If they can do this, is my contract null and void and can I go elsewhere? Works two ways as far as I am concerned.

BTW, we didn't terminate service and start anew. We did a "transfer of service" with them.

I'd pursue it. That makes no customer sense. Pain to fight for it -- but you should.

Did they maybe sign some sort of a deal with the developer to have upgraded service ala fiber optics, etc. and this is their way of recovering such costs? This is becoming more common.

A contract should be a contract.

See if your answer is here...

Billing & Customer Service - Comcast Help and Support Forums

Maybe even post your question here, it has to be better than calling and speaking to someone offshore.

I got Comcasted yesterday. No show for appointment. I called to ask why and was told I was scheduled for the wrong type of appointment. The person couldn't answer why I wasn't notified that my appointment was canceled. Neither could her supervisor. I was then told it would take another week to get a technician out. Told them never mind and called AT&T. But they did manage to email my first bill today.
