Lowe's Foods failed in the Charlotte, North Carolina, area against Harris Teeter. Add Publix, other supermarkets, and other grocery participants, the Charleston market would be very tight.
..... Is there any reason to think they wouldn't build another multi-story building that has a grocer on the ground floor with residential above? If they can manage the parking, that would seem a logical choice.
Similar to the new WestEdge building. Exactly what I was thinking. That Bi-Lo parcel is very expensive, why not maximize it's value.
Harris Teeter, like Publix, is capable of locating stores in multi-level rises. Some of these stores are in the District of Columbia, Maryland, and Virginia.
Publix will not be around in a few years? I find that difficult to believe at it has 1,124 stores with more stores opening. I think you are referring to the Publix at WestEdge that will not open yet for several years.
Of course thats what I'm talking about. Read in context.
Yeah they do. Even Pawley's Island and Aiken have one, and Greenville has 2. The Bilo I think would be a good fit, especially with the demographics that's starting to surround the area.
Fresh Market is what I had in mind when I posted "Fresh Foods" earlier. (duh)
