I think it's known as artistic license.

The company that bought the real estate for $10 million last year is going to want to redevelop it quickly. It will be interesting to see if they include a grocery store as part of the development, because the City of Charleston is not going to be too excited about approving another hotel or condos.

Another failure brought to you by Southeastern Grocers. Which store(s) will be next?

BI-LO #5751, 630 Skylark Drive, Charleston, South Carolina 29407-1718, does not do much business. It would be obsolete when Harris Teeter opens its store at Westwood Plaza. I not see BI-LO #5751 staying open much longer.

BI-LO #5228, 975 Bacons Bridge Rd, SUMMERVILLE, SC 29485 will be gone soon, beaten by the superior nearby Harris Teeter that opened a few years ago. BI-LO #5246, 142 E. St. James Avenue, GOOSE CREEK, SC 29445 is doomed as well. Their parking lot is frequently empty while the actually useful Walmart Neighborhood Market 2 blocks away is booming.

A 30,000-square-foot supermarket, an 11,700-square-foot drug store, and 406 apartments spanning nine levels above retail space are proposed for the site of the former BI-LO #5745.

A 30,000-square-foot supermarket would have to be Publix. Publix opens and operates many 29,000-square-foot stores with food and pharmacy.

Publix's WestEdge store should be opening in 2018. WestEdge could be considered a separate trade area.
