When I was in the grocery business I used to judge neighborhoods by how fast the centers of the parking spaces were gouged out by transmision fluid leaking from old junker cars.

I judged and still judge grocery stores by the amount of vehicles parked in their parking lots. It is easy to tell who is doing business and who is not doing business.

This doesn't surprise me.

This isn't a favorable deal, even if NC pitches in some seed money.

The low incomes and the high crime just make profitability next to impossible, which is why everyone left in the first place.

Companies are going to wait some more years for the hipsters to take over that area, they they will build.

Well hopefully it wont have to come to that. Low income minorities deserve access to proper groceries just as much as priveledged hipsters.

For sure.

I think something like a Save-A-Lot might be willing to locate there, but they usually lease an existing space.
