I voted for this in 2004, and have seen good road projects completed. Although Charleston is 'behind the times' for sure they are trying to improve the roads to catch up with the non-stop development and neighborhoods.
I voted for it again this time, but the tax will be 9% in Charleston County! I guess I am good with it as it is desperately needed particularly on Johns Island!
How does everybody feel about this tax, and is it coming out sales tax, not out of property taxes of residents, so tourists will pay much of this tax.
It barely passed 52 to 48 %.

It's good. Public infrastructure needs to come with the times if we continue to grow at the rate that we are. And the tourists will help with the tax as well!
I was interested to see that it passed without a lot of apparent support for it compared to the negativity surrounding it leading up to the vote. I voted yes on both questions. I'm glad the transportation tax fund gets audited regularly. Maybe Trump will live up to his campaign promise of building infrastructure and someday the tax will be rescinded. I won't hold my breath.
Ah Thai, I figured you would be against it. We need road improvements. I know you don't like growth, but why would you be against it for road improvements? You know this is going to fund the Flyover at Main & 17.
They said that a lot of the money is for "State of the Art Transit System". To me that means throwing money at CARTA. I would be willing to fund the flyover though. That's worth doing. Maybe they can flyover the flood zone too and land just after Gilligans.
It's supposed to include rapid transit (dedicated lanes for buses) on I-26. I'm most interested in intersection improvements, more sidewalks, wider bake lanes, and more green space.
Everything you all have said is good for the funding. I am not so interested in sidewalks or bike lanes , or greenspace, but widening roads and the Flyover at Main & Hwy 17. I do know part of the tax is going to preserving greenspace all over Charleston County.
I don't care what it will be used for other than Highway 41. But I'm all about sources of income that come from tourists and other people from other counties who work in CHAS county but don't live here. I do think the bus idea is stupid and a waste of money but oh well.
