We have lived here for two years and have had ATT Internet service. The bill has jumped $15 since we started.
They tell us the price for the Internet is the same as Internet and phone. So we take the Internet and phone package. We are now almost paying $70 a month including tax. The only way I get this price is that I need to call every six months and ask for a promotion. Otherwise, they tell me the price would be even higher. The customer service reps are quite arrogant, especially in the "customer loyalty" department. One told me I didn't need to call for a promotion and could just pay the regular price! I would so love to dump them, but I don't know if there are any better choices out there. We live just south of the Connector and have ATT U-verse service. We don't do any streaming. Just looking for good service at a decent price. Is this the best we can do?

Are you paying $70 just for internet? We pay $90 for Blast Internet from Comcast and Digital Starter Cable TV (one step up from their most basic plan), no phone. Speed isn't bad and it's been pretty reliable.

Unfortunately, I think the customer service at all of these companies is the same. The techs that did the install were excellent though.

I pay 49.99 for Comcast Performance Starter -- five people on devices streaming, downloading, gaming...and no issues. In May/June and a week in July maintenace on lines interfered and they gave us a total of 20.00 credit for the down time. I hav eno issues with Comcast internet. I HATED Comcast TV

The only broadband service provider (broadband as defined by the FCC as minimum 25Mbps down) we can get in our area of MtP.... Comcast.

Thanks everyone. Just spoke to AT&T and they are justifying the increased price because we do not share a connection with the rest of the people on our block. They said Comcast has a different system where speed is affected by other neighbors. I don't know enough about this to know if their explanation is true or not. Our ATT total bill with tax will be $68.54, which includes a telephone line. If we took the telephone line off, the Internet alone would be the same price. Comcast has lower prices for Internet only, but with the telephone, it works out to be about the same.

Technically what they are saying is true... but in most cases that hasn't mattered in the last 10 years due to advancements in network gear and the rollout of DOCSIS 3.0.

If you have ATT DSL you don't even have broadband by today's standards as it maxs out at 6mb. The DSL offered in our neighborhood maxes out at 3Mbps.

I think Comcast Internet + Phone is around $50/month for 25Mbps.

IsNull you are exactly right with the Comcast price. And thank you for clarifying the connection details. If we can ditch the phone, we can get that speed for $29.95, which would be a great savings.
And connectivity no longer seems to be an issue. Thanks for the info!

If you go with Comcast and ditch the phone for your cell, buy your own modem. Don't rent theirs.

GBO! Still behind Coach Jones!
