The Magnolia Nature Train was excellent, we went in the Spring and it was a nice narrated tour. I think a Magnolia admission may also get you into one of the century homes downtown.....Edmunson House or one of the others ??
If you're over on the West Ashley side, check out the Charles Towne Landing Park. This is the site where the original settlement was established back in the 1600's. You can see how they defended themselves from the Spanish and from the Indians. All for naught, as it was the mosguitos that finally drove them over to the Peninsula.
Are you a Jersey girl originally ?? What exit ?? We moved down here a couple of years ago and don't regret it for a second.
If you have time the next morning near sunrise, this is one of my favorite places for a quick visit. Tiny, and more easily accessed from one way than the other, but the views always amaze me:
We were just at Boone Hall last weekend with out of town guests. There were lots of camellias in bloom, and many knockout roses. The trees are always pretty at the water's edge and the Avenue of Oaks is still breathtaking. The house tour is included in the admission fee, as is the tram tour. You can easily do all of those things, and see the slave cabins, in 3 hours.

Yes, I too enjoy the little Northbridge park. I pass it on the way to work daily and have gone on a Saturday morning to just have a cup of tea & start the day.
Another place is Magnolia Cemetery Downtown Charleston along the Cooper River. Magnolia Cemetery is a historic cemetery. One can spend hours there learning and just walking around looking. The Hunley Submarine crew is buried there. Is a nice place to go that is totally free, and full of history. Is a great time of year to visit as you’re not ran away from the bugs. You can truly spend the time to enjoy the beauty of this historic cemetery.
Looking at these old graves show the workmanship and hard word they spent in creating these beautiful monuments along with all the iron work. We sure do not see craftsmanship like this anymore. I do have a photo album of some of the beautiful graves in a photo album here on my page @ https://www.city-data.com/forum/membe...-cemetery.html
