Could anyone recommend a good nursery in the Charleston and surrounding areas?

We are looking for a nursery with a good selection of plants, flowers and trees that do well in this area; has fair prices; and good employees who are honest (not out to make a quick buck) and can offer sound advice and work with us on our planting needs and timing. We would prefer something in the Moncks Corner/Goose Creek area, but we are open to other areas like Charleston, Summerville, Mt Pleasant, etc if they are the better option.

Thanks in advance!

Thanks for the recommendation, Caili. Can you give any more specifics about Hyam's and what makes them such a good choice? Are the people there really honest and helpful, how are the prices, availability and selection, do they offer delivery, etc?

Are there no other nurseries in and around the area that people recommend, and why?

Their selection is incredible. Folks are very friendly and knowledgeable for the most part. They have outstanding pottery and garden fountains. Prices are what I would consider a little on the high side, but they only carry quality material. I believe they do deliver on larger items, but you'd have to ask.

I think there are fewer and fewer garden nurseries; I saw 3 close here in Mt Pleasant with the downturn in the economy. Hyam's has remained, thank goodness!

JMHO, but I think Abide-a-While is becoming very average, with not nearly as much stock as they used to have. I do still shop there, but also leave sometimes without finding what I'm looking for. Also, not nearly the scale of Hyam's.

There's a very funky nursery on 17 North in ? Georgetown; can't remember the name of it, but you can find almost anything there! Not a 'showplace' at all, just every plant/shrub/tree under the sun! To see everything, they actually have golf carts you can use to drive around the different sections!
