It's really a toss up. Belmond seems to be near more shops, and Market Pavilion seems to be near more restaurants. At least from what I can see from looking at Google Earth.

M1a1mg - why do you prefer E Bay?
Primarily because I visit for food, not shopping. I like the proximity of Vendue to so many good restaurants and walking the battery. My wife likes walking the streets south of Broad.
Last time I stayed at Charleston Place, we were on the club level (7th and 8th floors) which include access to the club lounge which offers hot breakfast, afternoon tea, cocktails, snacks and desserts at no charge.
Belmond is right off King Street, which has a lot of shops and restaurants. The Market, IMO, is a tourist trap. If you want to walk to the water front and the battery Market Pavilion is a bit closer, but only by .25 miles maybe.
During the day the hotspots are on King/Market/East Bay. At night, the restaurant scene is a lot of upper King, which would be a walk of about a mile, a pedicab, or an Uber. The distance between the two isn't enough to be a deal breaker for anything. East Bay also has restaurants but probably not as much shopping.
Our friends have visited Charleston twice in the past 4 months. They like the Planter's Inn.
