They're more conservative, but we're talking by Cali standards, not Alabama's. Both are more moderate now with slight leans respectively. San Diego has been blue the last 3 elections, and 2016 was OC's first time going blue since 1936.

Even then, no way OC and SD counties would ever agree to bolt. Together LA and OC make a GDP larger than Saudi Arabia, who's currently building little mini Dubai's. They'd have to prop up Fresno, Tulare, and Barstow even more than they do now. OC is synonymous with LA.

Lol. Yeah the pensions are bad, but youd still be missing out on that balling LA and San Fran money and investment. Though I guess if this gerrymandered map did happen, they'd get Disneyland at least.

The thing with CA is the GDP isn't evenly distributed anyway, hence there's not much to lose.

Yep, crazy California and their 6 billion dollar surplus. We definitely shouldn't copy them.

Really? Maybe you can comment about their pension funding situation:

Yeah things are splendid in the land of fruit and honey.

Your FOX news talking point still doesn't change the fact that they have a 6 billion dollar surplus. Care to refute that?

Not bad for Governor Moonbeam...

So you're saying there's no problem with the CA public pension fund? Okay then, post on your links to back it up. No left wing like CNN or HUFFPO links please.

BTW, I didn't know Fox News owned the LA Times.

I didn't say there wasn't a problem with the pension fund, or that CA is perfect in every way.

Just mentioned that they have a massive surplus. And that other states could learn a thing or two from Jerry Brown in how he got a once near bankrupt state to this place. The pension thing was put in place many years ago, and yes, it's a problem.

Things are actually splendid, pension issues not withstanding.

I'd say arguing about the fiscal strength of a state roughly equivalent in GDP to the 5th most prosperous country is somewhat of a moot point.

Why is that? 5 years ago they were running a massive deficit. Seems like they're doing something right now.

We as a nation could learn a thing or two from that.
