There's a Roofing Company making the rounds in all the area subdivisions. They are promoting a full Roof Replacement using the Homeowner's Insurance Policy, under the guise of Hail Damage. They've done 3 homes on my block since January 1.

I'm not sure what a 30-year Roof on these 2600sf homes should legitimately cost -- but this company is charging over $10K (that sounds too high to me). The Homeowner is responsible for the deductible (usually $1K) and this outfit pockets the difference.

Questions -- We haven't seen Hail around here since last spring. Which Insurance is that dumb ??

What's going to happen when these policies come up for renewal next year ?? No Insurance company known to mankind writes a $10K check without a plan to recover that money.

Had a neighbor up in MD that got a new roof under the same premise from a company. We had similar houses and theirs cost over 12k while mine was under 5k. I had architectural shingles while they got the cheap three tab. Not sure what it did to their insurance policy when it came time for renewal.
