I have to check the name to be doubly sure... but I'm pretty sure I used Rudd Heating and Air a few times. I had some special circumstances with my air handler. A few other guys said "You need a new air handler" but I was pretty sure that was bogus. While I'm sure Rudd could have made a bigger sale, he was honest (in my opinion) and found that the problem was relatively small and fixed it up for a reasonable price.
If it matters, I think it is locally owned and operated and not a chain. I'm pretty sure the guy that came out was Rudd himself. So he is the one doing the work.
Thanks to my last house being a full house remodel and my new house with several units plus a guest house, I'm oh so familiar with most HVAC companies here in the Charleston area. Just had a full replacement of the guest house unit today.
So far, Sweatman's is far and away the best one we've dealt with. They're far less expensive than everyone else, super honest, and I was impressed with their workers - they were very polite AND cleaned up after themselves (believe me, many do not). The catch for these guys is that they do not accept credit cards. That has not been an issue for us but something to keep in mind.
Charleston Heating and Air has done work for us before and they're good, honest, reliable. Second choice for us as they cost about twice for the same work we got done with Sweatman's.
