I'm not from Charleston but thought y'all might want to sign this to preserve the wetlands.

bump.

It would be a shame to take away those wetlands just for a Wal-Mart. I'm not a big tree-hugger or anything but it'd be a shame.

Yes it would be a shame but I think the decision is for the people that live on James Island. JMHO

James Island already has a Walmart. I think it's totally unnecessary to put in another one.

thanks from a james islander - let's hope it makes a difference

in addition to destroying wetlands, i think 5 grocery stores within 5 miles is a gracious plenty!! we certainly don't need another!

I totally agree! We have a SuperWalmart on Bees Ferry Rd., which is just 20 minutes away...don't need another so close. Why do we have to "super-size" everything anyway??? GREED! There is already a Walmart, plenty of grocery stores, but a dwindling supply of wetlands...enough already!

I can't stand the way the big box stores close one, leave it abandoned (which is an eyesore), then build another within a few miles, thus cutting down more trees, taking out more animals' habitats, and fillling in more wetlands - the way Walmart did across from St. Francis Hospital. Totally unecessary...

This would not be another one. It would be a replacement for the current store, and sit just behind it. Some misinformation is being spread about this store.

Yes. James Island seems to have an over abundance of grocery stores!
