Hi everyone. My boyfriend (25) and I (21) are looking into Charleston SC and Charlotte NC. We are moving from Boston, trying to get away from the rude people and the horrible long and snow filled winters. We definitely want to live in an outside suburb, we are not big party people but maybe once a week or less than that we will go out to a bar, I love to dance and I love Music so I’m hoping for a decent nightlife scene. We are still going to school, I just got my associates in business administration and am now going for my bachelors. My boyfriend is working on his software engineering degree. We love the beach and a tropical vibe but it’s not a dealbreaker. Also it is very very expensive in and around Boston to rent and buy, we will be looking to rent for around 1000-1200. We are leaning towards Charleston but fear that the job market isn’t great or if we will be bored. (Not trying to insult correct me I am Wrong) thank you so much to whoever can help.
While Charleston may have a reputation for Southern Hospitality and friendliness I gurantee you at least 2 people will tell you to stay in Ohio lol
Btw I realize your not from Ohio but from Boston, for some reason people in Charleston must think every transplant is from Ohio. My sister lives in Ohio, it kinda sucks, I don't blame ohions for moving down to Charleston.
On a serious note what do you like about the area that draws you specifically from Charleston? Have you visited? Charleston may not be that big of a cut of cost of living as you think its getting very expensive.
I'm not trying to send you away from Charleston, I'm looking to move there myself but unless something specific attracts you Wilmington NC is still fairly undiscovered, Tampa FL is still pretty cheap, etc.
Probably the beauty of Charleston. It looks so historic and beautiful and I love the idea of southern hospitality. Another big aspect that is drawing us in is weather. We visited Tampa last year to potentially move there but decided it was not for us. It is difficult to choose a place to live since there will always be pros and cons!
